Did you know that “email [marketing] is 40 times more effective at acquiring new customers than Facebook and Twitter?” In addition, “email marketing drives more conversions than any other marketing channel”* The effectiveness and importance of email marketing cannot be disputed and all the experts joined the train a long time ago! If you’re reading this, I doubt I need to convince you that you need an email list. You’re probably here because you don’t know how OR you don’t know what to do now that you have an email list!
Read MoreShortly after having my son, I knew I wanted to be home with him. Yes, I work from home, but I knew I didn’t want to rely on a lot of childcare. I wanted to spend my days with him, but also run my business. The plan was to have my mom watch him a couple hours during the week, and the rest of my work schedule was dependent on naps.
Read MoreI don’t function at optimum efficiency when I am overwhelmed, stressed, and over tired. It’s just how I function. And I could probably bet that you’re the same way. Humans are invincible, even though we seem to think we are. We need time to rest, reset, and rejuvenate our bodies.
When we try to work from a place of fatigue or exhaustion, we don’t produce our best work and we might even snap at our loved ones (#guilty).
Read MoreMy first job out of college and my last job before I started my own was at the local Chamber of Commerce. In short, the Chamber of Commerce is a local organization that exists to promote and advocate for the interests of local businesses. However, my title and duties didn’t include a lot of work with actual business owners or business promotion. I was more on the backend of things, make sure the tedious tasks were completed. This is just a pretty way of saying I worked the front desk.
Read MoreWhat’s the first thing you click on whenever you first come across a website or blog? If you’re like me, it’s the “about page.” I want to learn about the person behind the screen. I want to know what they do, why they do it, and who they do it for. I want to know their story, where they’re from, what they were like in high school, and what they’re like in person. This whole digital age we live in is weird, but it’s also pretty cool because we get to “meet” people we would otherwise never come across.

Read MoreDid you hear about The Greatest Showman movie before it was released in theaters? If you have a pulse and are were born before 2015, then your answer is most definitely “YES.”
The promotions, trailers, and advertisements were everywhere. And naturally, you were probably really excited to see the movie. You were anxiously awaiting the release date, and maybe you even made plans to go see the new film with your significant other or friends. You probably watched the trailers and you probably saw the video of Hugh Jackman singing in rehearsals. Bottom line: there was a buzz.
Read MoreThe title “business owner” or “entrepreneur” comes with a lot of different roles. As a business owner, I am also the Marketing Director, Sales Coordinator, Accountant, President and CEO, CFO, Creative Director, Customer Relations Executive, Shipping and Returns coordinator, and so much more!
Read MorePeople drive profits. That’s how it’s always going to be. If you don’t have eyes on your products then you probably won’t sell much. The more eyes you have on your content, the more likely you are to have more readers. The more people who land on your website, the more sales you will have. It’s just how it works.
Read MoreI am just going to give a little disclaimer that this post might seem off putting or might be in contrast to what is written about in our industry. But, it’s been something on my heart and mind and I thought…”What’s a better place to verbally process this than the blog? Nowhere.” Just kidding. But, in all seriousness, I feel like this needs to be talked about.
Read MoreI think we can all agree that running a successful business cannot be done alone. We are human and we need help.
As someone who loves to produce and be productive, it’s hard for me to take my hands off of things in my business. I like to do it all and have my hands in everything. But, as my business has grown and my time for work has decreased (#motherhood), I’ve learned how to streamline things, but also how to work smarter.
Read MoreTo say I’ve learned a lot in the last three years would be an understatement. There’s something to be said about learning by trial. Most of the strategies I use in my business came at the cost of several mistakes and missteps.
I would be lying if I said I wish I hadn’t made the mistakes. I believe that the mistakes I’ve made and the things I’ve been willing to try (and fail at) have formed the business that I have today.
Read Moref you work at home, you are familiar with the long work days, usually seated at a desk, unlimited snacks available within reach, and the temptation to sleep in instead of working out. Working at home has countless perks including—and not limited to— no commute, working in pajamas, playing whatever music or playlists you want, and deciding what time works start. I work from home, and I love it! There are definitely the moments that I wish I had co-workers or motivation to get dressed in the morning, but overall I am incredibly thankful to be able to work at home. It really is the best! Now that I've added a baby to the mix, it's added challenges to stay healthy and active (aka very limited time for #allthethings).
Read MoreI remember when hashtags weren’t even a thing. I mean, what does a pound sign have to do with social media? It was pretty confusing at first. At least for me it was. Am I the only one?
Read MoreAs time goes on and things change (who am I? I sound like a 90-year-old Nana), we--as business owners--have to learn to adapt and change. Instagram used to be SO easy to use to find ideal clients and customers. There was some strategy needed to grow a successful account, but it was a lot easier to be "successful" on Instagram than it is today.
Read MoreThree years ago I was just starting my business up. I had recently quit my job and the reason for doing this was because I wanted to start a business. I could tell by the look in my employers eyes that it was a risky (yet, bold!) move. I’m sure they thought I was naive. Well, I was. But, I also had a great deal of determination and wanted to see big things happen!
Read MoreThis past year, I really focused on regular blogging. It was one of my goals and for the most part, I consistently blogged twice a week. For me, that’s a huge undertaking! My blog posts aren’t about weekend recaps or what leggings I like to wear (come to think of it--maybe I SHOULD switch to a mom blog...jkjk), so the content can often take more time for me. That’s not to say the aforementioned content isn’t hard; I know it would personally be easier for me to blog daily about my life versus business education. Ya feel me?
