Friday Favorites: July 12th
Oh, hello there!
I’ve gotten a little off track with my “Friday Favorites” blog posts, but I bet you barely noticed. I’ll admit, life has felt both crazy and mellow at the same time. How is that even possible, right? I’m not really sure. It just feels like life is full of play and being spontaneous and wasting time, instead of staying on track with goals and being productive. It’s been nice actually.
Next week, Knox turns 2, so I’m gearing up for his birthday and all the emotions that come with that. We decided to skip the birthday party this year and opt for a camping trip instead. I have a feeling that Knox will love camping so it’ll be worth it!
A few things I’m loving right now…
Portable sound machine:
I’ll admit, I’m a little nervous about the camping sleep situation with a toddler. I just picked this up at Target today and I’m hoping it helps with the sleeping in a tent with a toddler situation. Knox always sleeps with a sound machine so hopefully this will make the environment feel a little bit more like home for him. He never sleeps great in a pack-n-play, so…wish us luck!
And speaking of Target…
Target Drive Up:
Our Target recently went through a big renovation which also resulted in us now having the drive up option. FOREVER CHANGED. You basically order on your phone with the Target App, then drive to the store, and they bring it out for you. The only downside is that not everything is available for pick, so if you need refrigerated food, you’ll have to go into the store. But for the random essentials or when I went yesterday and forgot ONE thing, it is a LIFE-SAVER. No more toddler trying to climb out of the cart while I attempt to find my shoe size. Hashtag winning!
Thieves:
Don’t worry, I’m not going to sales pitch you to start buying oils from me. I just want to say that they work and I love them and if there is ONE oil you need in your house, it is this one. It’s magical and smells amazing and heals all things. That’s all.
The Joy of Missing Out:
I was recently sent an advanced reader’s copy of this book. Now, I can’t speak to it yet (because I haven’t read it), but I want to say that this is so refreshing to see. I have felt so fatigued by the push of our culture to do more and with more people. I hate how I fear missing out and that I DO want to do all things and be things for all people. But, I have a feeling this book is really going to help me change my focus and really find joy in NOT doing everything. It comes out soon (October 1st!), so you’ll be able to get your hands on it soon! Preorder here and learn more about the author.
“Be Kind” Hat:
I know that you might be rolling your eyes at me because this is MY product, but I seriously have so many feelings about this hat. I really do think that it has the power to change the atmosphere in a room. When people see you wearing it, it really changes their perspective. I mean, when I know I’m wearing it, I feel like I’m on extra high alert that I need to be kind. I posted a picture of it on my story the other and I received this DM: “I wear mine almost every day and get a smile from those I pass. Even the grumpy old man who yells at everyone smiled at me!” I mean...that’s amazing.
I hope you had an amazing week and that your weekend if full of rest and fun. Enjoy the Summer, friend!
Xoxo,
Rach
